UPF - Ghana Initiates Nationwide Peace Pledge: One Million Signatures for a Harmonious Future
The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Conference of Religions for Peace on September 21, 2024, commemorated the International Day of Peace, supported by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP), and the International Association of Youths and Students for Peace (IAYSP).
The program’s highlight was the "One Million Signatures for Peace" Launch Ceremony, a symbolic peace signature formality aimed at promoting unity and harmony among Ghanaians and ensuring peace before, during, and after the general elections due on December 7, 2024. The event was held at the UGMC, at the University of Ghana, Legon. Key stakeholders considered the signing ceremony, which was done on a soccer ball, a manifestation of equality, integrity, peace, love, and harmony. Pastors Gather in SĂŁo TomĂ© and PrĂncipe to Address Family and Youth Challenges
On September 12, 2024, a gathering of church leaders in SĂŁo TomĂ© and PrĂncipe took place intending to establish the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD) in the nation. The event focused on two pressing issues: the collapse of family values and the dangers facing youth. The gathering, hosted in a welcoming, family-like environment, brought together leaders for in-depth discussions and reflections on these critical topics.
After sharing a fraternal meal, the pastors engaged in a thoughtful analysis of these challenges. Character Education Training Program Launched in Seychelles
From September 2-6, 2024, a Character Education Training Program was held in Seychelles, organized by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and funded by a national government grant. Upon arrival on September 2, the UPF delegation—led by Mr. Roger Alphones (Chair), Mrs. Rosemary Elizabeth (Secretary General), and Mrs. Suganda Betioux (Secretary/National Leader)—received a warm welcome at the airport.
The program officially began on September 4 at CEPs Hall in Victoria, attended by 15 schoolteachers from three secondary schools: Anse Boileau, Anse Royale, and Point Larue. International Day of Peace Celebrated in Zambia
On September 20, 2024, UPF-Zambia, in collaboration with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), Women Federation for World Peace, and the International Association for Youth and Students for Peace (IAYSP), joined the global community to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Peace. This year's theme, "Cultivating a Culture of Peace," resonated deeply with the event's purpose for this year, which marks the 25th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace.
Charitable Donation and Community Engagement
The celebration took place at Matero After Care, commonly known as Home of Old People, in Lusaka. UPF staff, WFWP executives, IAYSP members, and Ambassadors for Peace donated essential food items, including cooking oil, mealie meal, Soya beans, and washing soap powder, to 54 beneficiaries. International Day of Peace: Ecumenical Prayer Organized by IAPD in CĂ´te d'Ivoire
In anticipation of the United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD) in CĂ´te d'Ivoire, under the leadership of Imam Drame Moussa, held an ecumenical prayer on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 12:30 PM at the Fatima Zahra Mosque in Grand Bassam.
On this occasion, His Excellency Aka Saye Lazare, Chairman of UPF-CI, delivered a message of peace to the assembly, reinforcing the importance of interfaith dialogue and unity. The event was attended by several imams, the Director of the Ministry of Communication’s cabinet, a representative of the President of the South Comoé Regional Council, and traditional leaders.
