In 2005, co-founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon addressed global leaders at the Hilton Hotel in Budapest, Hungary, during the Inaugural World Tour of the Universal Peace Federation. His speech outlined a vision of cooperation among nations and faiths grounded in universal values. The occasion became a defining moment in UPF’s emergence as a platform linking moral ideals with international partnership.

In 2006, the Peace Queen Cup opened in South Korea, bringing together eight national women’s football teams from four continents. Organized by the Sunmoon Peace Football Foundation, the tournament highlighted sport’s ability to foster respect, fairness, and friendship beyond political or cultural boundaries.

In 2018, UPF joined civic and faith partners in Seoul for the Assembly for a Unified Korea of Hope and Peace in commemoration of the 73rd anniversary of the United Nations’ founding. Participants affirmed that peace on the Korean Peninsula depends on sustained dialogue, mutual trust, and cooperation among all stakeholders.

From the Budapest inaugural address to the playing fields of Seoul and the Korea assembly, October 28 marks a continuity of action: diplomacy, culture, and community life working together for reconciliation. Each initiative reflects UPF’s conviction that peace grows stronger when expressed through shared experience and service.

Dr. Tageldin Hamad, President, Universal Peace Federation
