Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Africa Region is pleased to invite you to take part in the Joint Webinar Celebration of World Interfaith Harmony Week (February 1-7) and the United Nations International Day of Human Brotherhood (February 4) that is organizing on Sunday, February 4, 2024, online, the day of the celebration, from 3 pm to 5 pm GMT.

Theme: "The Culture of Interfaith and Intercultural Harmony and Human Fraternity in a World in Crisis: realizing the aspirations of the UN and the ideal of peace and one human family under God, advocated by the UPF Founders".

Context and rationale: The quest for a unified, peaceful world spans the ages, carried by the hope and commitment of successive generations. UPF Africa Region joins this noble endeavor by organizing this webinar, conscious of the vital importance of interfaith and intercultural dialogue in building a future of peace and mutual prosperity. In a world beset by multiple crises, it is imperative to cultivate human brotherhood and promote harmony between different communities.

Backgrounder: The foundations of this webinar are based on the principles laid down by the United Nations Organization, which was born of the aspiration to save future generations from the ravages of war. From the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace adopted in 1999 to the proclamation of the International Day of Human Brotherhood in 2021, initiatives for peace and dialogue have grown steadily. World Interfaith Harmony Week, launched in 2010, embodies this shared commitment to promoting harmony and understanding between religions and cultures.

Objective: This webinar aims to raise awareness of the importance of interfaith and intercultural dialogue, explore current challenges, and propose possible solutions for a more just and balanced world. We firmly believe that tolerance, mutual respect, and recognition of diversity are the foundations of a peaceful and inclusive society.
